Examining the performance of rRNA depletion workflows

SureSelect XT HS2 RNA Sequencing of Ribosomal RNA-Depleted Samples

Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is the most abundant component of total RNA, but it can also interfere with your targeted RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) data quality. To ensure that your transcriptome analysis is optimal, it’s necessary to enrich your samples before sequencing by removing any abundant RNA species using rRNA depletion methods.
rRNA depletion can improve your RNA-Seq by:

  • Reducing the number of uninformative reads
  • Allowing for visualization of small variations in methylation
  • Enhancing detection of rare transcripts

In this application note, the performance of commercially available rRNA depletion kits is evaluated when used in conjunction with the Agilent SureSelect XT HS2 RNA library prep kit. Learn how two rRNA depletion methods with the SureSelect workflow help you produce high-quality, rRNA-depleted XT HS2 RNA libraries.
