Developing a SARS-CoV-2 analysis protocol for wastewater
Over the span a few short months, SARS-CoV-2 has grown from a newly discovered class of coronavirus to the confirmed infectious agent of a worldwide pandemic. Outbreaks can occur suddenly and, when they do, can overwhelm hospitals and intensive care units (ICUs). However, by monitoring SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater using a qPCR assay, researchers are providing data that can help develop predictive modeling tools for occupancy trends to allow healthcare institutions to better predict potential surges.
In this webinar, Agustin Pierri, PhD, Technical Director of Weck Laboratories (Los Angeles, CA) will highlight how researchers in his laboratory used qRT-PCR to develop a SARS-CoV-2 assay, cover the benefits of this approach in infectious disease assay development, and touch on how qRT-PCR may be used for research and detection of other pathogens.
