Nebulizers
Sensitivity of your ICP-OES depends on the amount of sample reaching the plasma, and good precision is achieved when your nebulizer generates a steady, fine aerosol. Improper performance of the sample introduction system is one of the most common causes of poor precision and accuracy with the ICP-OES technique. Discover the nebulizer type that will provide optimal performance for your application, and learn techniques to help you routinely clean your nebulizer, and remove blockages if or when they occur.
Follow the steps in this technical overview to routinely clean your nebulizer, and remove blockages if they occur.
Choose the right one for your application, ensuring optimum performance and reduced blockages.
Torches
Torch design also influences the sensitivity and matrix tolerance of the ICP-OES. A larger injector ID improves matrix tolerance, whereas narrower bore injectors are required to reduce plasma loading and improve stability with organic solvents. Deposition of the sample matrix, salts or even carbon build-up can lead to injector blockage in the torch. This can restrict the flow of sample aerosol into the plasma, decreasing sensitivity and degrading accuracy and precision. Verify that you are using the recommended torch type for your application, and learn techniques to help you safely clean your torch, and remove blockages if or when they occur.
This technical overview will guide you through techniques for avoiding injector blockage and extending your operating time.
Although a “standard” torch can handle many applications, you may also need a specialized torch for certain analyses.
See why removing carbon buildup doesn’t have to be a chore.
