SLIMS modernizes the management of samples and their lineages. The easy-to-use interface allows lab staff to track every step of the sample management process and find paths to all relevant content. It is simple to create and filter content, customize which content to display, see all sample attributes—such as unique identifier, content type, and status—modify attributes, and see any changes from the original contents, including who made the change and date and time of the change. It is also easy to import Excel files, saving time and hassle.

SLIMS makes data instantly accessible to authorized lab personnel and managers, even remotely.

Simpler and Elegant Stability Studies

Define your study with your own storage conditions (temperature, humidity, photolysis…), packaging, timepoints, and the specifications you’ll want to test. Our unique Workflow Module makes lab operations completely transparent for everyone. At any point in time you can see who is working on what, ensuring that analysts know what is in process and what their next task is at all times.

Normally, analytical procedures are converted to digital form exactly as they appeared on paper and include a sequence of instructions to follow. This may result in monolithic electronic protocols that do not represent actual lab operations. With SLIMS, you can organize your workflows and operations in an elegant, labor-saving way so that the output of one step is the input of the next step. A key advantage of doing this is that the outcome of a sample preparation might be used in multiple tests. For example, the same sample can be used as the starting material for a pH test as well as for a HPLC test. Staff can instantly see what is currently going on and what needs to be done next. In short, you have visibility into and control over the entire process.

With SLIMS, you can also integrate with instruments in your lab such as balances and other small lab devices, and connect with other Agilent and non-Agilent lab software systems.

Simple resource planning and management

SLIMS makes it easy to track lab resources—from reagents to sample locations to instrument calibration and maintenance—and it monitors access to lab resources based on your own rules.

A direct connection with OpenLab CDS makes instruments accessible in SLIMS, and everything is logged and tracked in SLIMS so that you always have an accurate overview of the live status of your lab. SLIMS also helps ensure that only approved instrumentation, valid chemicals, and substances are used. You can easily restrict usage and grant authorization to ensure the right instruments and tools are being used.

Create the sequence where the sample resides

User access rights, project definitions and live instruments status are available in SLIMS, you define the relevant information of your sequence.

Route samples to instruments

You can apply further actions on the sequence if needed; otherwise, the sequence table is transmitted directly to the CDS. You can also assign the sample to the required or next-available instrument to optimize instrument use.

Automated, secure interface with OpenLab CDS

While the sequence runs, the results are processed in OpenLab CDS Data Analysis.

Get your results back automatically

Results are then sent back to the test protocol, without user involvement, drastically reducing the chances of transcription errors.
