In this webinar, Dr. Ryann Fame will discuss how the brain fluid environment supports the health of neural stem cells of the developing brain. During neural tube closure (NTC), the brain fluid environment shifts from amniotic fluid (AF) to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and composition of these fluids reflect differential transcriptional signatures of forebrain precursors before vs. after NTC. After NTC, CSF is largely managed by choroid plexus tissues, whose metabolism matures in coordination with acquisition of water and ion transporters that regulate CSF volume during post-neurogenic brain development. Therefore, the tissues that regulate early brain fluid environment represent crucial dynamic systems for modulating CSF volume and composition to support precise brain development.
